there is a light that never goes out

Studs and cut off jeans: a bloggers uniform perhaps?

An old interview by Julia Frankes at Papermag

Julia Frakes: For readers unfamiliar with your work, would you mind describing what you do a bit?
Filippa Berg: My job is being the fashion editor of a free Stockholm magazine called iCITY. But I do various things on the side, mostly styling. Sometimes I model, talk on the radio and I've been in some short movies. Recently I was the hostess of Go-See TV during Stockholm Fashion Week. I know some people in the industry here [in Sweden] and they often call me when they need help with different things and I'm glad to help out!

JF: What was your childhood like?
FB: Happy! I spent most of my time backpacking with my parents. We lived on beaches in Greece and took trains through Europe and the north of Africa. It was exciting. I didn't spend much time with other kids, though; I learned to play with myself. And I really didn't like school at all.

JF: Who is your favorite new Swedish designer?
FB: Personally I rarely buy new clothes, but really like what the designer Ann-Sofie Back is doing. She is truly an inventor!

JF: Why do you think the Swedes have such brilliant taste?
FB: Swedes -- especially in Stockholm -- are very anxious about trends. We travel a lot and read loads of fashion magazines. The funny thing is that most of us end up looking just the same; right now everyone looks like they're living on the Lower East Side! People dress up all of the time hoping to be seen by [streetstyle photographer] the Facehunter. I just dress my own way, and I've had the same style since high school. But it is true that we do have some really talented designers here. Sweden has a good climate for creative people: maybe it's because not so much happens here and people have time to concentrate on their work? Or perhaps it's since Sweden is such a small country...

American Apparel meets Nicolas Ghesquière

Fall 2009 Lookbook for Erin Kleinberg

Model: Theodora Richards
Photographer: Isabel Asha Penzlien
Stylist: Emily Weiss

I really like how relaxed and easy going the clothes look and the small chain details on the pockets keep it from being the typical Alex Wang tank.
Overall some nice basics i'd like to have in my closet that's for sure.

Contemporary Arts Museum had a Teen Fashion show (ages 13-19)
and each contestant was allowed a max of 5 designs but I just went ahead and did four. Anywho, oh the stories behind these clothes first off I did make everything from scratch for the EXCEPTION of the leather vest. Being that I didn't think my sewing machine couldn't manage fresh (fake) leather fabric, I decided to go thrift for a regular worn leather jacket that I could turn into a vest. Unfortunately because this Fashion show took place in the spring I had a hard time finding a decent leather jacket if any at all. SO I decided to buy this ridiculous 80s jacket because the front looked pretty good (since I was chopping off the sleeves anyway) and I liked how the leather looked as well. Man did that take some work though, there was SO much excessive fabric. I had to take in the sides, hem in the bottom of the jacket, recreate the arm holes since the original sleeve was at least six inches in length and other details. Then the Black dress was made bits and pieces the night before and semi completed literally two hours before the Fashion Show. I wasn't able to finish the hem completely so I had to hand sew it in the car and the rest with my life savor pins. It ended up being a little tight in the bust but Liz was such a trooper and it looked pretty good for being whipped up in the last 24 hours.
I know I could have done a lot better if it wasn't for my procrastination but hey it didn't end there. At the end of the Fashion Show they
were giving out awards (best nighttime outfit, eco friendly, etc.) and SURE enough I
won BEST OVERALL DESIGNER. I was pretty excited and had a serious ego boost (but then
again who wouldn't?) but anyways it was a great experience and i'd recommend it to anyone.
Anywho still going to continue sewing and have a few DIY projects to come and even soon
enough might start selling things online.
